ASTRONOMY & S.T.E.A.M. NIGHT IS JANUARY 9
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Please sign up to help here!
Join us on January 9 at McGaugh Elementary from 5:15–7:15 PM for a PTA-hosted night of creativity, innovation, and family fun!
At Astronomy and Science Technology Engineering Art and Math (S.T.E.A.M) Night, families are welcome to attend, but activities are designed specifically for McGaugh students.
Due to limited supplies and planned activities, this event is open to 125 McGaugh students, and families must RSVP in advance. Please only sign up your own McGaugh Sea Lion(s) and use their names in the Sign Up. Click HERE to sign up students. One RSVP per student.
S.T.E.A.M. activities planned:
- Stargazing: Telescopes will be provided by the Leisure World Astronomy Club.
- Pendulum Painting: Using the force of gravity, we will make custom made shirts using giant pendulums and bleach.
- Ozobot Town: Families will use markers to create an Ozobot Town, then create pathways for Ozobot to travel to each of the different locations and color codes to tell a story.
- Makey Makey Instruments: Create a graphite drawn instrument and test it out using the Makey Makey circuit boards.
- Scribble Bots: Families will make their own drawing robot using basic materials.
- 3D Pen Drawn Bubble Wands: Design a 2D or 3D bubble wand using the 3D pens. Then test the bubble wand using a bubble solution.
This event is being put on by McGaugh PTA volunteer and event Chair Lisa Prins in collaboration with McGaugh STEM teacher May Samari who is supported by Project SEEK.
